A Music Note on Beale Street For the Legendary William Bell


The Jus' Blues Music Awards hits Memphis August 4th through the 7th kicking off festivities on Beale Street in downtown Memphis.Charles Mitchell,Founder of the Jus' Blues Music Foundation,states,"This is our tenth anniversary event,so everything is extra special.We've got a lot going on.One of the very special high points of this year's event for me is to be able to award one of my music idols,Mr.William Bell,with a Music Note cemented on Beale Street in honor of his many years of great songs,shows and accomplishments in music and to the community.Memphis is his home town,so awarding him this honor is quite a thrill for me as I know it will be for him to be immortalized on the street that's so important to the culture of Blues & Soul music".

Bell is a music industry veteran and legendary staple from Memphis based Stax Records as a vocalist,writer,producer & now executive of his own label,Wilbe Records.Bell's artist debut in the 1960's,"You Don't Miss Your Water"was one of the Stax label's first big hits.Among William Bell's many classic catalog songs include,"Everybody Loves A Winner","Any Other Way","Never Like This Before","A Tribute To A King","I Forgot To Be Your Lover","Private Number"and the perennial Christmas music favorite,"Every Day Will Be Like a Holiday".Bell also composed "Born Under A Bad Sign" for the legendary blues man,Albert King.

Bell has numerous accomplishments,fans and contributions to the genre of R&B,Blues,and Soul music.He is a recipient of many awards,including the Jus' Blues Music Percy Mayfield Award for outstanding excellence in music compositions.
