William Bell recieved rave reviews (try saying that 3X,LOL!!!) for his performances last Fri.,Dec.11th & Sat.,Dec.12th @ The 21st Annual Warren Haynes X-Mas Pre-Jam & Jam respectively,to benefit Habitat for Humanity in mountainous Asheville,NC.Comments are as follows:

http://www.jambands.com/news/2009/12/14/william-bell-counting-crows...ristmas-jam-highlightsWilliam Bell, Counting Crows Among Christmas Jam HighlightsThe weekend’s musical festivities began on Friday night with Haynes’ annualmore intimate Christmas Pre-Jam at the Orange Peel. The super jam portion of the night continued with a funk and soul-basedensemble that boasted Holloway, Meters bassist George Porter Jr., Lettucedrummer Adam Deitch, Soulive/Lettuce guitarist Eric Krasno, New Orleans staple Trombone Shorty and trumpeter Craig Sorrells. After a few songs,STAX legend William Bell, perhaps this year’s most inspired and influentialguest musician, appeared to front the ad hoc group of musicians for a fewsongs, including “Everybody Loves a Winner.”The weekend’s festivities continued Saturday night at the Civic Center. The Christmas Jam’s funk ensemble reassembled for a two-part performance. The second part of the set found the musicians backing William Bell. Theset read like a STAX and soul greatest hits list: a take on “Hard toHandle” that also featured Audley Freed, a version of “Everyday is aHoliday” with both Freed and Haynes, and an all-star jam based around hisoriginal “Born Under a Bad Sign” that drew in Freed, Haynes and Whitford, among other song highlights. As Haynes mentioned in a recent Jambands.cominterview, Whitford also played “Born Under a Bad Sign” with Gov’t Mule afew years ago.**************************************************************************************************************************************Haynes' Christmas Jam band warmed up the crowd quickly with its lineup ofveterans and locals, including Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford and NCnative Edwin McCain. An assortment of rock and blues journeymen followed, leading up to a fierceset by legendary R&B vocalist and songwriter William Bell.Bell, 70, has been writing and recording hits since his Stax Records days, and his songs are favorites of sampling artists today, including KanyeWest. He and Haynes dueted on "Everyday Will Be a Holiday" and he wasjoined by Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford for Bell's "Born Under a BadSign," made famous by Eric Clapton with Cream. In his tailored black suit, red tie and matching pocket hankerchief andblack Fedora, Bell was easily the best-dressed man on stage.**************************************************************************************************************************************FACEBOOK COMMENTSSean Paul Welch - Had a great time at my first Xmas Jam! Mule was of coursemy favorite, but Jimmy Herring and Col. Bruce, Brad Whitford, JackieGreene, George Porter, William Bell, Trombone Shorty, and Ron Holloway allblew me away!! Last Child, Spoonful, Born Under A Bad Sign, Fire On TheBayou, Train Kept A Rollin'...so many awesom...e songs played toperfection!.Jeremy -Amy - William Bell was great and he's a legend. He has a great voice and deserves to be heard.

Blind Ambition signs William Bell.

Blind Ambition Management is pleased to announce the signing of legendary soul artist William Bell to its roster.

One of the architects of the Memphis soul sound, singer/composer William Bell came to prominence with his debut Stax single, "You Don't Miss Your Water." After joining the Stax staff as a writer, Bell and Booker T. Jones penned "Born Under a Bad Sign," which became a signature song for blues musician Albert King and was later popularized by Cream. Bell himself had more hits with "Private Number," "I Forgot to Be Your Lover," "Trying to Love Two," and many others. His songs continue to be sampled by top artists including Kanye West, Ludacris and Dilated Peoples. He's been inducted in to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and has received the Rhythm and Blues Foundation's R&B Pioneer Award. Look for some high-profile US and international tour dates and an exciting new album from William next year. William Bell's MySpace

William Bell"Live In New York City"cd Review

William Bell”Live In New York City”cd Review
“This is what it’s all about,…THIS IS SOUL LADIES & GENTLEMEN!,…the MC announces. And with a listing of classic songs recorded by the main attraction this evening,he introduces The Legendary William Bell, followed by rapid fire drum & horn section call & response,…this performance is under way,…
LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY!

This particular cd is just the kind of Live! music project that avid music collectors can’t wait to get a hold of & brag about how rare of a find it is,how hard it was to obtain, all the while keeping it cautiously within arm’s reach of his audience, only to be locked away, never to be seen again.

Not this time collectors! This one is for the masses! The only thing rare about this is that it is the only Live! release from Mr.Bell who gives a stellar vocal performance the whole way thru.
The 1977 hit”Easy Comin’Out,Hard Goin’In”kicks off the experience,with a brief vamp of the Tyrone Davis hit”Can I Change My Mind”effortlessly mixed in.”Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday”follows like you’ve never heard it before!Of course that’s the beauty of Live! renditions.Plenty of extensions,ad-libs,tempo changes,etc,…
When I say you’ve never heard it like this before,I’m not exaggerating.”Everyday,…”is greased, teased,& ultimately pleeeeezing to the ear.
Now you’re primed for the anthemic”I Forgot To Be Your Lover”/”You Send Me”medley, laced with some really nice Hammond B-3 organ playing & some”words to the wise”fromW.B.,…”if you got a good thing, don’t go around braggin’about your good thing, cause everybody’s looking for a good thing,…”. A tribute to The Big”O”,the late great Otis Redding is in order for the next few selections.Of course,W.B. penned & recorded the fitting”Tribute To A King”in remembrance of Otis shortly after his untimely passing. On Live,…he borrows & superbly reworks tunes from the”king’s”catalogue like”Hard To Handle”,”Fa Fa Fa Fa Fa”,& is joined by former Stax label mate,Eddie Floyd,to perform Mr.Redding’s signature song”Dock Of The Bay”which in itself is well worth the price of admission.

The final selection is appropriately Willam Bell’s debut single”You Don’t Miss Your Water”which is as brilliant as ever, complete with dynamic vocal stylings & a killer saxophone solo.
In summary,…job well done!”Live In NYC”is the next best thing to being there!

To paraphrase the MC,“THIS IS TRULY WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT,…THIS IS SOUL MUSIC LADIES & GENTLEMEN,…AT IT’S FINEST!

The"Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday"Tour Review!!!

WILBE Records Director of Promotions,Larry Eaglin reports on the “Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday” Tour
Dec. 18th – Dec.21st 2008

This month’s “Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday” tour was quite an extra holiday treat for those fortunate enough to experience it.

Featured entertainers included the phenomenally gifted vocalist, songwriter, pianist,…& new WILBE signee,Lola,as well as “Powerhouse”vocalist & WILBE alum,Jeff Floyd,& of course WILBE Records CEO,The Legendary William Bell!

Each night, the show commenced with newcomer,Lola, followed by Jeff Floyd,…. and a WILBE Records gift pack giveaway preceded the introducion of William Bell.

First stop Lafayette,Louisiana! A Huge Thanks to KJCB Station owner Janelle Chargois & Staff who pulled out all the stops for us,treating us to the best in Southwest Louisiana Cuisine.
The event was held @ local favorite music venue Elsido’s on St. Antoine St.that boasted an abslolutely fabulous sound system & a great opening Zydeco band.
On comes Lola, whom the crowd doesn’t seem all to familiar with until she launches into the first song of her set,”I Can’t See Myself”,it’s popularity attributed to the jocks over @ KJCB who showed it much love.
By the second verse of “Wash Your Hands”,Lola had the audience where she wanted them, testimonials to the shared experience being shouted out @ random.

Jeff Floyd, simply put,is a natural.A ball of energy from the time he hits the stage until his departure.Effortlessly, drawing from his string of hits to bring the crowd into his world, the synergy between Jeff & his audience is similar to a call & response situation. He performed older material such as “I Found Love(On A Lonely Highway)”,Let’s Git It On”,&”Somebody Is Gonna Lose A Good Woman” & brought everyone up to date with the latest single from the”Keepin’ It Real” cd,”Lock My Door. You can be sure to expect huge achievements for Jeff in 2009.
The show closed with the epitome of cool & class, the consummate professional,….Mr. William Bell who arrived on stage amidst a flurry of camera flashes,….kind of like a Soul Blues paparazzi.
He covered all the classics,& I do mean all the classics such as’You Don’t Miss Your Water”,”I Forgot To Be Your Lover” & “Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday”.
There was no shortage of material from his”New Lease On Life” & “A Portrait Is Forever” releases.
I remember being overcome with chills viewing Mr.Bell from my vantage point, his sillouette bathed in spotlights as he crooned.Thinking to myself, this is truly a very special occasion!

The report on the Lafayette show kind of wrote itself & I realize it’s a bit lengthy,so I’ll briefly list some of the other highlights on this tour.

***Lake Charles,LA.: A Sincere Thanks & Continued Success to those powerful sisters,Faye Blackwell & Tami Tousant @ KZWA 105.3 for accommodating WILBE so nicely. And we can’t forget THE MAN Mitch Faulkner(Congrats Bro!,We’re proud of you!),as well as other DJ’s for being excellent MC’s for the show, which was held in one of those church halls that brought to my mind summers spent in Beaumont,TX.,sitting next to my grandmother as she was intensely focused on the bingo game at hand, pots of hot gumbo being prepared in the kitchen,….o.k. forward to the present,…Tami brings me a plate of gumbo & it’s on.
KZWA offered free admission to the first 50 ladies, who were lined up outside the entrance 1 hour prior to the doors opening, which is always a good thing. These folks came to sho’nuff party & I was witness to every ”line” dance imaginable.Of course Lola & Jeff, who kept the dance floor packed his entire set,did an excellent job.William Bell hits the stage & as if one cue, several women, politely, one @ a time come up to him as he’s performing & pose with him as a girlfriend snaps the photo.Mr.Bell obliges the lady’s without missing a beat or note. Now,that’s entertainment!
Extra special thanks also to Lawrence”Gumbo”Morrow of Gumbomedia Network for the T.V. interview.Keep up the great work!

***Greenville/Greenwood,MS.: Actually the performance was held in Lexington,MS. @ James’s place,…preciate ya’!I knew that WILBE was really bringin’ it when I witnessed Mr.James, not a necessarily compact man, swinging from a rafter. As was the case in the shows leading up to this one,Lola was called back out to the stage for an encore performance of “Wash Your Hands”.Thanks to Cyreio Hughes & the staff @ WGNL 104.3 for making it happen in Mississippi!

***Little Rock,AR.: What can I say about “Broadway”Joe Booker & the staff @ KOKY 102.1FM,…..Class Acts! When we arrived to Club Elevations, the place seemed filled to the hilt,…with a few hundred more expected. This had to be the most enthusiastic, interactive crowd of all the dates,….real downhome folks!Cd as well as custom photo sales were brisk. After the performance, the artist meet & greet area remained full of autograph seekers, well wishers &/or folks expressing their appreciation.Alright, the high point of the evening came during Lola’s opening performance when she was showered with bills from the ladies,at one point a woman made change with the money already onstage to allow for a larger tip,…now that’s love,…maybe you have, but I have never ever seen anything like that! One brother, after donating single bills from his wallet, just threw his whole damn wallet out.

The WILBE Records Staff & artists thanks all who were in attendance.Let’s do it again sometime.

Love,Light & Prosperity in “09”
